Firemaster
FireBarrier 135:
A new solution for fire protection of tunnels
The increasing number of tunnels being built all
over the world requests a growing need of fire
safety. Fires in tunnel cause devastating effects,
as for example the Mont Blanc tunnel fire, which
killed 41 people and burned for several days or the
Channel Tunnel fire, which was estimated to cost
about £. 200 milion in damage and lost revenue. One
good specimen of Firemaster application is The
El-Azhar tunnel, built under the city of Cairo. Fire
protection is required to protect the concrete
tunnel lining from the thermal shock generated by a
rapid fire development either during construction or
during service.
Key advantages:
Refractory Product - it can withstand repeated
exposure to 1350 °C. for long cycle times and
consequently be re-used after a fire without
re-installation.
Very low spraying wastage during installation - less
than 1% weight.
Fast and easy to install - one single layer
application.
High adhesion strength - eight times greater than
product weight.
High quality surface finish that can be painted.
The fully fire tested solution for fire
protection of tunnels
Subjected to TNO 97-CVB-R0710 (RWS) Hydrocarbon Fire
test procedure for tunnel fire protection system,
FireBarrier 135 meets all current fire test
requirements for fire protection. After
comprehensive fire testing in Netherlands and Norway,
47 mm of Firemaster FireBarrier 135 is to be
installed in the El-Azhar tunnel to provide 2 hours
fire protection to the concrete lining. |
